剧情：本片改編自曾任日本南極觀測隊廚師的西村淳根據自身經歷創作的散文集《有趣的南極料理人》。本是海員廚師的西村淳（堺雅人 飾）被派往冰天雪地的南極圓頂富士基地爲七名考察隊員擔任廚師，妻子（西田尚美 飾）只好獨自撫養8歲的女兒和剛出生不久的幼子。在冰天雪地的南極寒地，喫，是考察隊七位成員——冰河學助手川村泰士（高良健吾 飾）、氣象學家平林雅彥（小浜正寬 飾）、通訊員西平亮（黑田大輔 飾）、醫生福田正志（豐原功補 飾）、氣象學家兼隊長金田浩（古關安廣 飾）、機師御子柴健（古館寬治 飾）和冰河學家本山秀行（生瀨勝久 飾）——枯燥生活中的最大樂趣。西村淳想盡辦法烹飪各種各樣的美味料理，而圍繞着喫，八個寂寞的男人也演出無數令人忍俊不禁的生活趣事。 本片獲日本橫濱電影節最佳男主角獎（堺雅人）。
