剧情：本作の主人公は、人生崖っぷちの若きシングルマザー・巖崎和佳（いわさきのどか）。「食べるためにはなんでもやる！」と思っていた彼女は1人の漁師に出會い「1萬円で俺たちの浜を立て直してくれ！」とオファーされる。こうして、必死に生きる漁師たちの夢を一緒に背負うことになった和佳。頑固な海の男たちとぶつかり合いながらも、ド素人ならではの大膽さで古い常識や慣習を次々と打ち破り、しがらみだらけの業界で大革命を巻き起こしていく。なお「ファーストペンギン」とは、多くの敵が潛む海に飛び込む“勇気ある1羽目のペンギン”のことだ。

Plot：Nodoka Iwasaki is a young single mother with no money, no house, and no work. While Nodoka decides that she will do anything to eat, she meets a fisherman, Hiroshi Kataoka, who offers her 10,000 yen to rebuild the coast. Thus, Nodoka now carries the dreams of the local fishermen whose lives are on her shoulders. Despite her limited knowledge of the fishing industry, Nodoka does her best working with the stubborn sea men, breaks through the old common sense and customs with her boldness, and creates a revolution in the industry.
