剧情：指揮家宋羽（周潤發 飾）與設計師悅香（林青霞 飾）相識於香港的某個兵馬俑展覽，二人回家後，便開始常常夢到對方。在夢中，二人不再是以現實中的身份出現，而是幻化成了兩千年前的生死相隨的戀人…… 現實中的宋羽和悅香也開始似夢中人般相知相戀，宋羽的女友更因接受不了他的變心而絕望地選擇了自殺。而在夢中的悅香，竟也在兩千年前爲當時的戀人宋羽自殺。而這一段輪迴了兩千年的愛情，最終會何去何從呢……
